Eva's trip to the Zoo.

Eva and I went with my neighbor and her two kids to the Pocatello Zoo yesterday. I was pretty disappointed at what Pocatello considers a Zoo. I'm used to the Detroit Zoo which is amazing, but this one was pretty sad. All they had was a couple of bears, some birds and some wild cats. The only thing really fun was the play area and the petting zoo. They had goats, cows, bunnies and sheep. When we were in the petting area a little boy walked up to Eva patted her on the head and said, "Aw what a cute little girl." I think he was a little confused and thought that she was part of the zoo. It was still pretty funny and Eva didn't seem to mind. So even though the petting zoo was ok I don't think we will be going back anytime soon. But at least Eva had fun and when we got home she took a 2 and a half hour nap (her naps are usually 45 minutes to and hour) so I guess it was worth it.

Happy Mother's Day

I Know that Mother's Day is almost over but I wanted to make sure that I took the time to tell my Mom how much I love her. I would have to say that Motherhood is the most rewarding and challenging thing ever. Although it can be hard at times I love it and because I am now a mother I have that much more respect for my mom and everything she has done for me and our family. So here is a look at my first year as a mother and a look at how much Eva has changed. (don't pay too much attention to the first picture I had just had Eva like that week so pardon the fatness)
I fell like the first few months were a complete blur all i did was sleep and nurse Eva. She was a really good baby the first couple months, so i started thinking, "Hey this mothering stuff isn't so bad."
Then she got older and her evil side appeared. I'm just kidding....sort of. She just never wanted to nap or sleep at night so we were both tired and cranky a lot. So then I started thinking, "Why would anyone ever have more than one kid!" Evil or not I have to admit that she does look pretty cute in her little bear outfit.
During the summer we went and stayed with Grandma Shelli while Greg was gone playing Army man. It was so much fun to let Eva spend time with her other Grandparents and She loved the pool. I still can't believe how fat she was. Look at the rolls on her arms!

Eva started walking at 9 months which was shocking but a month later it was Halloween and she was able to walk for trick or treating which was really fun. I dressed her up as a fairy and everyone loved her costume. We went to our church Halloween party and the trunk r treat. It was so cute to see Eva going up to the cars with her bag. And Greg was in heaven because he got to eat all the candy! By now she was getting to be lots of fun and I was starting to think again that maybe this Motherhood isn't so bad after all.

Finally we made it to her birthday! I felt like not only was it a celebration for Eva but also for Greg and I that we made it through the first year. We just had a small party at the Grandma Gochnour's and we let Eva have a huge slice of cake. Which as you can tell she loved. By now Eva could say a few words like Mom and Dad and she could make all kinds of animal sounds.

Eva will be 17 months this week and I feel like the time just flew by. I love being a mom so much and I love Eva to death. She is such a sweet little girl and she keeps Greg and I laughing all the time. She is so smart (I know all parents think their kids are so smart) and she really keeps me on my toes. I feel so blessed to have a healthy, happy little girl. She is starting to say all kinds of words and can really interact with Greg and I. One of her favorite things to say is "this." Whenever we go somewhere new or she doesn't know what something is she points and says "this?" And she will keep saying it until I tell her what it is. It's cute and a little annoying. I guess I would have to say that Motherhood is totally worth it and I love being a stay at home Mom. I also am so thankful for my mom and what a great example she has been to me. So to all the moms that read this Happy Mother's Day! And don't you think that with all the work we do we should get like a whole week instead of just a day?

Been a long time comin'!

Well Greg has finished school with a bachelors in Geology, and boy has it been a long road. So let me give you a little glimpse into what this last semester (consisting of 25 credits) has been like. There were many long days of homework with no end in sight. Which led to many late nights where I would go to bed alone and wake up to Greg coming in around 4 or 5 in the morning.

Which resulted in Greg trying to play catch up the next day. Poor little husband.

Not only does he now have a bachelors but he is also commissioning as a Lieutenant in the National Guard. Which is wonderful but also kept him busy this semester.

I can't believe that after so many years we are finally getting past this college part of life. I am so proud of my husband and all the hard work and dedication he has put into school in order improve our lives. I couldn't ask for a better husband and I love our little family. Greg you did it! I just can't say it enough, I love you and I'm so proud of you.

We both are.
